Premier League giants Chelsea have been banned for two transfer windows by world football’s governing body, FIFA.
The Blues were banned by FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee for breaches relating to international transfer of under-18 players.
With the latest development, Chelsea won’t be able to sign players until next summer at least (the summer of 2020).
FIFA also confirmed that the transfer ban does not apply to the Blues’ women team and futsal team.
Chelsea were also fined 600,000 Swiss Francs (£460,300) for their misdemeanour.
This is not the first time that the Blues would be banned from making signings after they experienced the same situation in 2009 for their pursuit of Gael Kukuta.
EPL: Maurizio Sarri has been given offer to quit Chelsea
The three-year FIFA investigation relates to the signing of more than 12 players including Bertrand Traore.
This situation will put more pressure on Chelsea to keep star man Eden Hazard who has been heavily linked with a move to European champions Real Madrid.
The Los Merengues are eyeing a move for the Belgian international attacker who has already talked about his desire to secure a dream transfer to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
Ex-Lille star Eden Hazard will have just one year left on his Chelsea contract when the transfer window reopens in the summer.
