Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic could be on his way out of Chelsea in January, after failing to force his way into Antonio Conte’s starting eleven positions. The Serbian has been a great addition to the Club and his highly regarded by both the owner Roman Abramovich and the club fans.
Latest report from Daily Mail claims that Spanish giants Barcelona are weighing up move for the highly experience defender as they look set to replace under-performing star Aleix Vidal.
Although it is thought that Barcelona boss Luis Enrique first choice replacement for Vidal is Valencia’s right back Joao Cancelo, but a move for the highly rated star is unlikely to go through mid-way to the season. The asking price for the 22-year old star has put Barca off, making a move for a cheaper alternative this January.
However, report also has it that the La Liga giants are not only considering Ivanovic, but are also looking at Juventus’ Stephan Lichtsteiner and Shakhtar Donetsk’s Darijo Srna as short-term options.
Ivanovic has had a successful career with the Blues since arriving from Lokomotiv Moscow in 2008, scoring a total of 33 goals in 368 appearances. The 32-year old defender had been a regular in the starting spot until last season when he suddenly became a weak link at the Chelsea.
Should Chelsea decide to let go their vice skipper in the winter, Nou Camp will certainly be a good ground for the Blues’ legend.
