Chelsea fear star Striker hamstring injury could see him out of action for long

Alvaro Morata

Premier League Champions Chelsea fear striker Alvaro Morata could miss more than a month with a hamstring injury.

The Spain international forward limped off during Chelsea’s defeat to rivals Manchester City on Saturday afternoon, but manager Antonio Conte disclosed said after the match that he decided to take him off for precautionary reasons.

But as per the Spanish Football Association, the former Juventus and Real Madrid striker has suffered a grade two hamstring strain causing him to pull out of Spain’s latest international squad.

The latest development leaves Alvaro Morata facing over four weeks out on the sidelines, striking a massive blow to Chelsea boss Antonio Conte.

With two UEFA Champions League matches against Italian Serie A giant AS Roma, as well as Premier League fixtures against Crystal Palace, Watford, Everton and AFC Bournemouth all taking place in the month of October, the Spaniard could miss an important part of the Blues League season.

Alvaro Morata will be sorely missed by the West London club, having made a fine start to his football life at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League.

Since sealing his £70.6million transfer from Spanish La Liga Champions Real Madrid back in July, the Spaniard has grabbed seven goals in nine matches in all competitions.
His spell away from the side is likely to provide a chance for Belgian Michy Batshuayi to start more games.
