It appears Chelsea will bring in at least one more player before the transfer window closes.
The Evening Standard are reporting that the Stamford Bridge club are confident of securing the signature of Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain before the end of the window.
Chelsea who surprisingly lost their premier league opening match to Burnley at Stamford Bridge, have been linked with the English player for much of this summer but a deal is yet to materialise.
Oxlade-Chamberlain played the full 90 minutes in Arsenal’s 4-3 home win over Leicester City last week, and Chelsea are trying to persuade him to west London before the end of this month.
The talented player joined the Gunners from Southampton back then in 2011 in a deal worth £15m and has grown into one of the most important players in the club, scoring 20 goals in 200 games for the Emirates club.
Last season, he scored 6 goals in 45 appearances for Arsenal, and couldn’t help prevent Arsene Wenger’s side from finishing fifth in the premier league standings.
He has, however, enter his final year at Arsenal and is yet to put pen on paper for a contract extension. And the report suggests that the blues are very much confident they will be able to sign Alex for a fee close to £35M.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has urged the club’s management to bring in new legs into his team before the end of the transfer window.
