According to the Evening Standard, West London club Chelsea are closing in on a £35million deal to sign Arsenal forward Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from North London club Arsenal.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is pouring the pressure on Chelsea board to get more potential signing this summer following a frustrating summer transfer window and an opening-day loss to Burnley.

A Central midfielder remains Conte’s priority despite Tiemoue Bakayoko’s arrival at the Bridge from AS Monaco.

Serbian Nemanja Matic was allowed to join Premier League rivals Manchester United for £40million and the Chelsea boss admitted his departure marked a ‘great loss’ for the club.

But the Blues are progressing in their chase of Oxlade-Chamberlain as Antonio Conte has been encouraged that a transfer is very possible, according to the Standard.

While a transfer fee is yet to be agreed by both clubs, it is claimed the English man is open to the transfer with Antonio Conte willing to offer him a starting place ahead of Victor Moses.

Reports also indicate that Liverpool and Manchester City have also expressed heavy interest in the 23-year-old this summer transfer window as discussions over a contract extension have stalled.

However, Chelsea are believed to be in pole position to sign the Arsenal star with Arsene Wenger now considering a sale to cut down his first-team squad.
