Chelsea has confirmed two loan deals for young duo of Dion Conroy and Jhoao Rodriguez.
The Blues announced the deals on their official website on Monday, Conroy signed an extension loan deal with Aldershot till the end of April. The defender has been impressive for the Shots in the National League this season, making 14 league appearances for Gary Waddock side so far and was part of the Chelsea side who won the FA Youth Cup and under-21 Premier League.
Rodriguez on the other hand has switched clubs in Colombia. He was at Sante Fe but has moved to Cortula, having just had two appearances for Santa Fe since joining last July. He has featured for Colombia under-20 side, scoring five goals in 13 appearances.
A club statement read: “Chelsea Academy defender Dion Conroy has had his loan at Aldershot Town extended until the end of April.
The 21-year-old who won the FA Youth Cup and Under-21 Premier League with Chelsea, has helped the Shots up to seventh place in the National League this season.
Colombian striker Jhoao Rodriguez has switched loan clubs in his homeland from Sante Fe to Cortulua.”
Chelsea is often criticised for the youth system due to their policy of loaning their youngsters out to other clubs and end up losing them later. The likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Marko Marin are all part of the system.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has claimed that the system is employed to for profit motives only and not for football reasons.
