Premier League giants Liverpool have ended their long wait for a major trophy following their Champions League triumph over Tottenham Hotspur.
In the Champions League final played at the new Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid, Liverpool defeated Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in what was an all-English affair.
The Reds were able to banish the memories of last season’s Champions League final in Kiev.
Liverpool had lost 3-1 to Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid who secured an unprecedented third successive Champions League title as a result of the win.

The Merseysiders made a dream start in the opening minutes after Spurs midfielder Moussa Sissoko was adjudged to have handled the ball in the penalty box and Egyptian international Mohamed Salah didn’t make from the resulting penalty to give his team a second minute lead.
Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker kept that advantage for the Reds in the second half as Spurs laid siege on their defence in search of an equaliser.
Spurs didn’t get that much needed leveller before Liverpool substitute Divock Origi wrapped up the contest with a second goal in added time thereby handing the Reds the trophy.
Liverpool have now ended their seven-year wait for a major trophy.
The Reds last won a major trophy in 2012 when they were victorious in the League Cup under the guidance of club legend Kenny Dalglish.
