Champions League Final: Klopp Ends Unwanted Record In Madrid

Klopp

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp ended a dismal final record after masterminding the 2019 Champions League title triumph for the Reds.

Klopp and Liverpool saw off Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur to win the Champions League final.

German tactician Klopp had previously lost his last six finals dating back to his time as the manager of German Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund.

The run of successive final defeats came to an end with the 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final.

Liverpool got off to a dream start as early as the second minute through a penalty from star player Mohamed Salah.

Opponents Spurs were penalised after their midfielder Moussa Sissoko was adjudged to have handled the ball in the Tottenham Hotspur penalty box.

Tottenham Hotspur were the better side from the goal onwards especially in the second half but they were unable to bridge the Liverpool rearguard led by goalkeeper Alisson Becker who was crucial to their win.

Brazilian international Alisson Becker made several saves in the second half before Liverpool substitute Divock Origi sealed the 2-0 win for the Merseysiders.

Liverpool were able to break their trophy drought which had extended to seven years since they won the League Cup in February 2012.
