Apart from Dutchman Virgil Van Dijk, another Southampton defender linked with Chelsea is Cedric Soares.
However, the talented defender has made it known that he is going to honour his contract at Southampton and stay with his current club, dismissing speculations linking him with a move to Stamford Bridge.
Speaking recently to the Daily Echo, the defender admitted that like every other player, he is pleased to know that a big club like Chelsea have interest in him.
He, however, added that he has a contract to honour with the Saints and that he is a professional player who is happy with his current side and will do his best for them.
It is understood that Chelsea have earmarked Cedric as a possible transfer target to provide competition for Nigerian international Victor Moses.
It was also said that the premier league champions enquired about him this summer but were put off by the asking price by Southampton.
The Saints are desperate to keep hold of the full back alongside other of their stars like Ryan Bertrand and Virgil van Dijk. Van Dijk is heavily linked with both Liverpool and Chelsea for much of this summer, but it appears a deal won’t happen this year anymore.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has told the management to bring in up to four more new players before the transfer window closes on Thursday.
