For quite a long time, Arsenal have been trying to renew the contract of their star player Alexis Sanchez, but they have however failed to reach an agreement with the Chilean international as yet.
This season so far, the former Barcelona playmaker has been regarded as Wenger’s best player and it is obvious that the North London club cannot afford to lose him. But if the management are not able to agree a new deal, then Gunners fans shouldn’t be surprised if he leaves the Emirates next summer.
Reports now have it that the Gunners have already lined up a replacement in the form of German international and Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus.
27-year-old Reus was linked with Arsenal last summer. Even back in Novemeber last year, the Mirror reported that Arsene Wenger will target Reus if Alexis leaves. And regarding the latest update, the Arsenal boss has moved in to finally agree the signing of Reus next summer.
An Italian football journalist in the person of Emanuele Giulianelli has covered an exclusive report where he claimed that Arsenal have moved in and opened talks to hire the services of Marco.
Additionally, he revealed that the Gunners are ready to splash big money to secure his signing, which will be worth €100 million (I.e €60m fee +€40m wages).
Marcos is arguably one of the best attackers in the world, but he has unfortunately proved to be injury prone in the past few seasons. This current campaign, he has featured in only 7 games for Dortmund, scoring 4 goals and provided 6 assists. And like Sanchez, Reus can play anywhere in the attacking third.
