Reports had it that Jose Mourinho intend signing Benfica defender Victor Lindelof to Old Trafford, but won’t sign him until next summer.
Even while the duo of Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo are performing above average in the defense, United’s boss surely need to add more power to his squad’s defense.
The Mirror recently reported that Manchester United have already made enquiries about Lindelof, nevertheless, due to their on-going participation in the Champions League, Benfica will not sell him until the end of the season.
Despite the fact that the red devils could be pushed to begin looking elsewhere, it’s added that the Premier League giants have continued to keep a close eye on the 22-year-old Swedish international and even watched him in action again last Sunday when Benfica clashed with Sporting Lisbon.
Lindelof joined the Portuguese side from Vasteras in 2012, and has gone on to establish himself as a key figure for the club. He already had 20 appearances in all competitions already this season for his club.
Valued at £50m by the Daily Star earlier this month, Lindelof is not just an ordinary central defender. As a proof, the youngster has not been dribbled past once in six Champions League games!
Lindelof has evolved into a top defender in recent years for both club and country, has shown he can be versatile. He is a young talent that has the potential to be a mainstay in the United team for years to come.
