Bournemouth Plot To Hijack Cardiff City Loan Move For Liverpool Defender

Nathaniel Clyne

South Coast club Bournemouth will be plotting to hijack the loan move of Liverpool defender Nathaniel Clyne to newly promoted Premier League side Cardiff City.

The Welsh giants are favourites to sign the 27-year-old right-back on a short-term loan until the end of the season after club manager Neil Warnock talked up the transfer but he could face stiff competition from Bournemouth.

Cherries boss Eddie Howe is keen to strengthen his ailing defenders with a loan move for the England international player.

Nathaniel Clyne represented the Three Lions of England on 14 occasions before the injury woes that saw him lose his place for both club and country.

Bournemouth have been dealt two major defensive blows in the past weeks.

First choice right-back Adam Smith has been out of action for the last two months with injury and he’s not expected back until February.

Club captain Simon Francis has deputised for Adam Smith impressively until he sustained a serious knee injury that will keep him out for at least six months.

The Cherries would be hoping to secure the player’s transfer at the expense of Cardiff City, though the Bluebirds remain firm favourites due to Nathaniel Clyne’s ties with Neil Warnock.

Warnock gave Clyne his first team breakthrough at Crystal Palace in 2008 before he left to join Southampton in 2012.
