Bellerin Returns From Ankle Injury To Save Arsenal

Spanish right back Hector Bellerin is known to be a speedster due to his impressive sprints record however what we are learning is his importance to Arsenal with the 21-year old Barcelona academy product gradually becoming one of the best players in his position.

Bellerin sustained his ankle injury during last month’s North London Derby clash with Tottenham Hotspurs in a game which ended 1-1 and was subsequently ruled out for six weeks. Arsenal struggled a bit without him with the likes of Carl Jenkinson, Gabriel and Mathieu Debuchy taking turns to play the position though Brazilian defender Gabriel has done a very good job.

Despite the fact that Gabriel became a reliable right back in the last three days Bellerin took only 17 minutes to make his impact on the side following his 25th minute introduction for German centre back Skhrodan Mustafi.

The Spaniard was highly influential in the build-up to Arsenal’s equaliser as he made a good run to collect Alexis Sanchez’s pass before teeing up Theo Walcott with a pinpoint cross to level matters for the Gunners.

That equaliser came at a crucial time with three minutes left before the interval and it was vital for the Gunners, who went on to score two second half goals via Ozil and substitute Iwobi to win the game 3-1. Bellerin played his part in the win and further highlighted the notion that he is the undisputed no. 1 at Arsenal apart from him being regarded as one of the best around in that position.
