Ajax Amsterdam midfielder Frenkie De Jong believes that the decision to reunite with international teammate Matthijs De Ligt at Spanish champions Barcelona rests on the player.
De Jong is expected to join Spanish champions Barcelona this summer after the La Liga giants agreed on a move for him during the winter transfer window in a deal reported to be around €75m.
The 21-year-old is hopeful that Matthijs De Ligt will follow in his footsteps by moving from Ajax Amsterdam to Barcelona.
Frenkie De Jong spoke about De Ligt and a possible move to Barcelona after the Netherlands’ win over England in the second half of the UEFA Nations League.
The Netherlands came from behind to beat England 3-1 after extra time with goals from the aforementioned De Ligt, Kyle Walker (own goal) and substitute Quincy Promes.

England had earlier taken a first half lead through a first half penalty given away by Matthijs De Ligt.
Marcus Rashford was brought down by De Ligt and the Manchester United player picked himself up to give England the lead.
De Ligt then went on to equalise in the second half thus taking the game into extra time.
After the game, De Jong told reporters that the decision lies with Matthijs De Ligt.
Several clubs have been linked with De Ligt with the likes of Barcelona, Manchester United and Liverpool competing for the 19-year-old currently rated at around £75m.
