Arsenal have launched an improved £40million bid for AS Monaco winger, Thomas Lemar, according to reports.
The 21-year-old has been a subject of interest from the Gunners this summer with reports that Arsene Wenger is keen on replacing transfer bound Alexis Sanchez with the French star, who did well to impress last season, netting 14 goals and 14 assists to help them to the Ligue 1 title and reach the latter stages of Champions League last season.
Lemar has attracted several clubs to himself with his impressive displays, with the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool believed to be ready to compete with Arsenal for the winger’s signature.
Arsene Wenger appears to be a fan of the winger’s abilities and has had an initial bid for the winger rejected with reports the bid was deemed too small by Monaco.
Reports in reliable French outlet, L’Equipe claim that the North London side has returned with an improved bid in the region of £40 million.
However, prior reports suggest that Monaco are hold out for a fee in the excess of £80million for Lemar, who said to be open to a move to the Emirates but will not force a transfer despite relishing the opportunity to play under Arsene Wenger.
