According to reports, Arsene Wenger and Arsenal are set to cash in on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Premier League Champions Chelsea this week.
The Mirror claimed on Sunday that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger would not sell the forward to Liverpool, who are also reportedly interested in the versatile midfielder, as they feel they are direct rivals for a top 4 spot.
The report says that Wenger sees the Blues as title contenders while selling the forward to Klopp’s team would further strengthen a fellow top four contender.
Antonio Conte’s side are ready to pay about £40million for the Ox, and while the Arsenal boss wants to keep him, Oxlade-Chamberlain is keen on leaving before the summer transfer window slams shut.
Chelsea are hoping to seal a deal soonest as they are prepared to meet Arsenal’s valuation.
The attacking midfielder reportedly rejected a £180,000-weekly contract offer last week and believed to want a move away from the West London club.
Reports claim Oxlade-Chamberlain has informed manager Arsene Wenger and chief club executive Ivan Gazidis that he wants to go.
Chelsea have also prepared a bids for Everton’s Ross Barkley and Leicester City’s Danny Drinkwater, according to reports in the British press, as the Chelsea boss looks to build a new title winning squad at Stamford Bridge.
