Arsenal boss set for major tactical change against AFC Bournemouth

Arsene Wenger

As per the Telegraph, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is set to make tactical changes by discarding the back three against AFC Bournemouth on Saturday after Arsenal’s disappointing start to the new League season.

Arsene Wenger has used a depleted back four for the majority of his 20-years in charge of the club, but he switched to a back three during the end of the last campaign.

The latest 3-4-2-1 formation brought success as the Gunners won 10 of their last 11 matches to narrowly miss out of the Champions League slot and won the FA Cup by defeating Premier league champions Chelsea at Wembley Stadium.

The Frenchman stuck with the new formation at the beginning of this campaign but after conceding three goals against Premier League side, Leicester on the opening weekend as his team suffered consecutive away losses to Stoke City and Liverpool.

The 4-0 humiliation at Anfield Stadium before the international break saw Arsenal’s defence ripped apart and as per the Telegraph, Arsene Wenger is considering reverting to a back four against Bournemouth.

The news outlet says the Frenchman and his coaching team have been drilling the team using both three and four at the back in training respectively, making the players believing the North London club could switch to a traditional back four.
