Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has disclosed that the club have no plans of letting England international Theo Walcott depart in the winter transfer window and revealed he is hoping that the attacker can fight for a place in the first XI for the remainder of the campaign, as per a report on the Telegraph.
Theo Walcott has found himself down the pecking order of the first team squad for some time now and there were claims of Arsenal letting the player leave the team, with the pacey winger himself interested in having a more first team playing time.
The Arsenal star obviously wants to take part in the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia with the Three Lions but without playing regular football, his chances of being selected in the travelling party by Gareth Southgate are very slim.
The forward has started mostly in the Gunners UEFA Europa League games so far this campaign and played a major role yesterday in the final group game against BATE Borisov.
The French tactician said Walcott works very hard to come back into the lineup, as he was sick a few weeks ago. He admitted the forward looks sharp in training.
The Arsenal coach also believes that the England star has the requirement to compete favourably with French duo of Alexandre Lacazette and Olivier Giroud for a place up front.
