Arsenal tactician Arsene Wenger believes contract rebel Alexis Sanchez will win back Arsenal faithful’s quickly after playing for the Gunners for the very first time since almost signing for Manchester City on deadline day.

The Gunners had agreed a £60 million move to Manchester City for the 28-year-old, but the transfer depended on Arsenal signing France international Thomas Lemar, who opted to remain at AS Monaco.

The Chile international forward played the last 15 minutes of the North London club’s 3-0 victory against AFC Bournemouth on Saturday.

The former Barcelona target received some jeers as he came off the substitute bench at the Emirate Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Manchester City target, who returned to the North London club late from international duty, was playing his first home match for the club this season after battling with injury.

The French tactician told reporters after the match that Alexis Sanchez is focused on the English Premier League and the UEFA Europa League and the wantaway forward wants to perform well in the colours of the club.

Wenger further stated that the Chilean is still a little bit short of form physically and that the player will be back to his best as quick as possible. Wenger also said the star forward will win back the love of the fans sooner than expected.
