Though the Gunners are not certain of their qualification for next season’s Champions League competition, they are still interested in signing Schalke’s youngster Max Meyer who is hoping to feature in the Champions League competition next season.
The Telegraph suggests that the North London club who might lose Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere this season, are still hoping to lure the youngster to the Emirates Stadium before the start of next season.
Max Meyer, will see his contract expires by the end of the season and he seems not ready to extend his contract after being reluctant to discuss a new deal with the Bundesliga side.
Despite starting as an attacking midfielder at the club, Meyer has been converted into a defensive midfielder, shielding the defense line and he’s been doing fine in his ‘adopted’ playing position so far this season.
He could be the perfect replacement for Santi Cazorla who might be forced to retire due to his recurring injuries which have limited him to just a few matches throughout this season.
While reacting to Meyer’s speculated move out of the club, Schalke sporting director Christian Heidel admitted that he could be difficult for Schalke to retain the youngster beyond the season as there are numerous clubs fighting for his signature including Liverpool, United and Arsenal.
Though it might be too early to discuss about players changing clubs, Arsenal might just be the next destination for the German youngster next season.
