According to reports, Arsenal have become the latest English Premier League club to be linked with a move for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner, joining Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool.
One of Europe’s finest
The 21-year-old wasn’t prolific at old club Stuttgart, but since he joined Leipzig back in 2016, he has gone on to become one of the most consistent strikers in Europe.
Timo Werner scored 21 goals in 32 matches in all competitions last term and he’s got 16 goals in 29 games so far this season to prove that last season’s feat wasn’t a fluke.
In turn, as per The Sun, it has alerted a number of Premier League sides, with the Gunners now joining the Red Devil’s, the Reds and the Blues in a potential transfer tussle to sign the £50m-rated player.
Developing further
While there’s no doubt that the player would be a top acquisition and at 21 years, he is still ready to develop and improve his game further, the question is if the Gunners really need another striker.
Having landed Gabon international striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Armenian attacker Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the winter transfer window to fill the boots left behind by Alexis Sanchez’s departure, manager Arsene Wenger seemingly has a lot of competition in that position already.
