Arsenal manager unsure Alexandre Lacazette will start Spurs match

Alex Lacazette

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said he has not yet decided if France international forward Alexandre Lacazette will play from the start against Tottenham Hotspurs.

The decision not to play the striker from the start for the recent loss at Premier League leaders Manchester City attracted heavy criticism and many Arsenal fans believe he should be featured more regularly.

Arsene Wenger was left discrete when questioned whether the club’s record signing would be selected in the Matchday squad for Saturday’s North London derby.

Addressing the World media at the pre-match press conference on Thursday, the French tactician said he has not yet decided, but admitted it’s a possibility because the striker is available for selection.

But the former Monaco boss denied insinuations that he does not trust the ability of the France striker to start in big matches.

Wenger said he has a huge choice to make for every big match and a huge decision in front of him.

The tactician confirmed Lacazette has played a lot of matches already this season and that the only game he has missed was the Manchester City match.

The Arsenal boss will have to assess the fitness of a couple of his players, including Germany defender Shkodran Mustafi and England striker Danny Welbeck, on Friday before making up his mind on his starting line-up for the Tottenham match.
