According to Sam Allardyce, Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson is close to joining Crystal Palace.
So far, 24-year-old Allardyce has limited opportunities at Arsenal and he is looking at getting some regular first-team action with a move to Palace.
Jenkinson has worked under Allardyce before at West Ham so both of them definitely have a good working relationship. The former England coach is looking forward to a reunion and he has confirmed to the media earlier that an agreement has been reached with Arsenal for the right back.
Crystal Palace are now expected to discuss personal terms with the player and it seems that a transfer is inevitable.
“I think they are negotiations between the chairman and the agent, but we appear to have an agreement with Arsenal” Allardyce said.
Arsene Wenger already have Hector Bellerin and even the likes of Debuchy, Mustafi and Gabriel can still be used in the right back position if needed. So, nothing wrong if Jenkinson should leave the North London club.
Additionally, this is of advantage to Jenkinson too for he needs regular play at this stage of his career. A few years back, he was highly rated. He can get back his confidence at Palace if he is given regular time at the club.
