Arsenal ‘begin talks to sell £10m-rated midfielder

Mohamed Elneny

According to reports, Premier League giant Arsenal have entered negotiations with Turkish club Galatasaray over the possible sale of Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny.

The 25-year-old midfielder only joined the Gunners 18 months ago, but he has wrestled to force his way into the first-eleven at the Emirates Stadium and started just eight Premier League matches last season.

Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger is ready to let the Egypt international midfielder go as a result, with Turkish club Galatasaray leading the race to sign the £10m-rated star.

Former Premier League Champions Leicester City have also been linked with a transfer for the African and saw a £10m offer accepted by the Gunners, but the Egyptian himself is thought to have rejected a transfer to the King Power Stadium.

The defensive midfielder’s current contract runs until the summer of 2020, but the African has played just 38 matches for the London club across all competitions since joining them from Basel for £5m.

Should Arsene Wenger let Elneny leave the Emirates this summer, then he would be left with no other option but to keep the likes of Jack Wilshere and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain at the North London club – both of whom have been heavily linked with a move away from the Emirates this summer transfer window.
