Forget Ngolo Kante, this box-to-box midfielder has Conte’s support

Danny Drinkwater

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte says England international Danny Drinkwater’s debut in the 2-1 League Cup victory over Everton proves the midfielder is ready to feature in the English Premier League campaign according to Express.

The England star completed a transfer deadline day switch to Stamford Bridge from King Power Stadium in a deal worth around £40million.

Drinkwater had not played any match so far this term after sustaining a calf injury while training soon after joining the Champions.

The midfield maestro has since missed 10 matches, including six in the English Premier League.

But the player played over an hour of his team’s victory at Stamford Bridge against Everton before making way for Spaniard Cesc Fabregas.

After the match, manager Antonio Conte was questioned how long it will be until the midfielder is fully fit.

And the boss suggested the 27-year-old could be fully fit and available to play West Brom from the start on Saturday, November 18.

The boss said the team have three matches before the next international break and to see Drinkwater fully fit may be after the FIFA international break.

The Blues will be hoping to continue their winning run when they return to English Premier League action at the weekend.

The west London gaint travel to the Vitality Stadium on Saturday to lock horns with Eddie Howe’s AFC Bournemouth.
