Antonio Conte has revealed that Michy Batshuayi did not start the game against Bournemouth because he is still adapting to life in the Premier League.
Following Diego Costa’s suspension for the match against the Cherries, there were suggestions that Batshuayi will be given the opportunity to start the game and impress the Italian boss in the process but it appears Antonio Conte thinks otherwise.
He said: ‘This is the first time we played without a real forward, we tried this in training and I think for us at the moment this situation is the best, but I don’t forget Michy because he is a young player with great talent,’
‘He is adapting to this league and it is football, in the future I trust in him.’
Goals from Pedro and Eden Hazard ensured the Blues secure their 12th consecutive win the Premier League.
However, Conte will miss the services of Pedro after the forward picked his fifth yellow card of the season and will miss their game against Stoke City on New Year’s eve. But it is expected that Diego Costa and N’Golo Kante will return for the Blues after sitting the game against Bournemouth due to the same reason.
