Antonio Conte: How Ex-Chelsea Boss Turned Down Spurs Revealed

Antonio Conte

Newly appointed Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte turned down the chance to become Tottenham Hotspur manager earlier this year.

This is according to the publication from the stables of Italian media portal Calciomercato which claimed that Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy offered Conte the managerial job at the club after Mauricio Pochettino was been linked with the Manchester United and Real Madrid jobs.

Argentine tactician Pochettino was eyeing the top jobs at Manchester United and Real Madrid at that time.

In the end, Mauricio Pochettino missed out on the two jobs.

The former Argentine national team defender was snubbed for the Manchester United job which was given to former club striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer permanently.

Pochettino was also snubbed as Real Madrid reappointed Zinedine Zidane as their manager following the sacking of Santiago Solari in March.

Zidane returned to the Real Madrid dugout eight months after he resigned as the club’s manager.

Antonio Conte was said to have rejected Tottenham Hotspur due to their history of not spending money on players.

The former Italian national team player and manager has since been named Inter Milan manager after putting pen to paper on a three-year deal worth €10m on a monthly basis.
