Antonio Conte fights back as Chelsea refuses to pay £9 million release clause
Former Chelsea Coach, Antonio Conte is set to take up a lawsuit against Chelsea after the football club refused to make payment for his release clause.
The Italy international was dismissed from Stamford Bridge a few hours ago following the expected arrival of his countryman, Sarri Maurizio.
Despite Conte having one year to go at Chelsea, the club management refused to let him stay on after he had criticized some of the management decisions.
However, Conte had insisted he would leave only if Chelsea pay his release clause, which is worth £9 million.
On the part of Chelsea, the Blues have argue that they would make no such payment to the Italian.
This was further analysed in a statement by Chelsea’s chairman Bruce Buck, who disclosed no payment would be made to Conte because of his irregular behaviours.
One of the irregular behaviours Conte was accused of was dropping Spanish forward, Diego Costa via an SMS.
The Management argue that the singular act by Antonio Conte devalued the player.
However, the lawyers of Conte had argued that Chelsea had signed a new deal after the Diego Costa incident and the club didn’t state anything of such.
