Antonio Conte has told Chelsea to sign Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid, according to reports.
Reports in Spain have it that Conte has asked the Blues board to increase their efforts to sign the Spaniard striker has a replacement for the embattled Diego Costa.
Reports in Sport Witness claim that Morata is unhappy at the Santiago Bernabeu having started just 10 games in all competitions upon his return from Juventus last summer, which has sparked suggestions that he wants to leave Madrid.
It is understood that Conte is keen on bringing Morata to the Stamford Bridge at the next summer transfer window and has told the hierarchy at Chelsea to sign him.
However, same report also suggested that the Blues may be put off Real’s valuation for the 24-year-old which is around £61.5 million
Morata had earlier confirmed that Chelsea tried signing him before his return to Real Madrid last summer.
‘Chelsea showed the most interest,’ he told SportBild.
‘Antonio Conte had already signed me for Juventus.
‘And it was a very good offer this time. I would have been the most expensive Spanish player ever.’
Morata has played second fiddle to Karim Benzem at the Santiago Bernabeu as Zinedien Zidane prefers the Frenchman’s to him.
