According to reports, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is unhappy with the management over their lack of progress in the transfer window.
Italian news outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport says the Italian manager had expected Chelsea’s hierarchy to act swiftly after the term had ended to secure their main targets.
Conte has helped bring back Champions League football to Stamford Bridge and he is determined to reinforce his squad ahead of a busy campaign next term. He is, however, getting frustrated with the lack of urgency shown so far.
La Gazzetta dello Sport also claims the tension is mutual between Antonio and the management as the board are reportedly not pleased with the manner Conte handled Diego Costa. A few days ago, the Spanish forward was told by text message that he has no future at the club.
Since Costa made Conte’s message public, the implication is that the premier league champions are now in a weaker negotiating position as it is now known that the Spaniard is no longer wanted.
The west London club are yet to make a major summer signing, unlike Manchester City and Manchester United. However, it is understood that Chelsea are closing in to sign Everton forward Romelu Lukaku as there are speculations the player had agreed to personal terms already.
Lukaku’s club are understood to be demanding a £100 million transfer fee for the Belgian.
