Italy Legend rule out Chelsea coaching role with Conte after retirement

Legendary Italian midfielder Andrea Pirlo will retire once his MLS club New York City existing contract expires, but he will not be taking on a coaching role in the Premier League.

The former AC Milan and Juventus midfielder has moved to end rumour suggesting that he could take up a coaching role alongside former coach Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge.

The FIFA World Cup winner has made it public that he is to retire at the end of his New York City deal.

The 38-years-old has been strongly linked with a role at Chelsea alongside his former boss at Juventus Antonio Conte, but he insists that he plans to head back to his country Italy before planning his next career move.

He told Daily Mail when asked if he would be joining the coaching team at Chelsea: “No I [Pirlo] won’t. I [Pirlo] need to rest.

The Italian had previously said that he could be lured to cut his coaching teeth in the Premier League.

While Andrea Pirlo has distanced himself from a coaching role, Antonio Conte has also sought to killed the speculation of an imminent arrival at the Bridge.

Fans will have to wait and see what the future holds for Antonio Conte, with the 48-year-old having said that he plans to return to Italy at some stage.
