Man United Legend Sends Message To United Supporters.
Wayne Rooney was obviously thrilled to be back in training for his side on Tuesday morning at Carrington.
Manchester United current all-time goalscorer Wayne Rooney has taken to social media to showcase his delight at returning to training with his side ahead of Wednesday night’s Europa League game with Saint-Etienne.
The English star missed out over the weekend after he was not included in the United team that beat Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup on Sunday due to minor injury issue. He was however put through his paces with the rest of the United squad on Thursday morning as the club prepared to travel to France for their European game.
However, it’s not yet certain if Rooney will feature during the game but it is glaring that he was pleased to be back in action on the training pitches.
Rooney posted a picture on his personal Instagram account of him training with his teammates and wrote the caption: “Great to be back training with the lads”
The Old Trafford club will afterwards turn their attentions to the EFL Cup final this weekend, as they prepare to play Southampton at Wembley.
Mourinho Provides Injury Update On Rooney Ahead Of EFL Cup Final
United coach Jose Mourinho has however admitted that he is unsure whether Wayne Rooney will be fit for his side’s clash against Southampton in the EFL Cup final at Wembley on Sunday afternoon.
Mourinho speaking at his pre-match media conference ahead of Manchester United’s game against Saint-Etienne in the second leg of their Europa League last-32 clash, commented on Rooney’s fitness:
“I don’t know. This morning was the first time he trained and didn’t even train 100 per cent with the group.
“You saw 15 mins open to the press and yes, he was doing the warming up and the basic things after warming up but then when the training session was higher in intensity he was not training. No chance for tomorrow, he is not here, he stayed back training, and let’s see for the weekend.”
