Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has revealed the reason behind his decision to reject a transfer to Chelsea last summer.
The Brazilian international shot stopper opted to move to Liverpool ahead of Chelsea during last summer’s transfer window.
The Reds paid a then world record transfer fee for a goalkeeper to secure his transfer from Italian Serie A giants AS Roma.
Liverpool paid £67m to sign him though the transfer was eclipsed by the £71m that rivals Chelsea paid Spanish La Liga club Athletic Bilbao to sign Kepa Arrizabalaga.
The Blues activated the release clause in the Athletic Bilbao contract of the Spanish international goal minder.
Chelsea signed Kepa after missing out of the transfer for Alisson Becker.
Liverpool and Chelsea were involved keen on a move for Alisson following his impressive form for AS Roma whom he helped to reach the semifinals of the Champions League last season before they were eliminated by his new club.
He thereafter featured for the Brazilian national team in their run to the quarterfinals at the last FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia.
On his reason for a Liverpool transfer, Alisson said that the Reds history played a major role as well as the uncertainty at Chelsea.
Maurizio Sarri was appointed the new Blues manager last summer as a replacement for the sacked Antonio Conte.
