Chile International forward Alexis Sanchez is asking for £400,000 weekly pay to sign a new contract at Arsenal.
Negotiations have stalled after the star striker turned down the North London club’s recent offer of a weekly wage of £275,000.
Reports indicate Manchester City are willing to sign the Chilean international, who could leave the Emirate stadium next summer for free if his contract runs out.
The former FC Barcelona forward hinted at a possible exit from the club during the recently concluded FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia, but as yet nothing has happened and no offer has been received for the big forward.
The Arsene Wenger tutored side are desperate to keep the reliable forward despite the arrival of club-record signing Alexandre Lacazette from French Ligue 1 outfit Lyon.
The French International is expected to play the central striker’s role at his new club, linking up with the Chilean operating from the wide position, if the Gunners can successfully persuade Sanchez to stay.
Arsenal has already signed former Schalke 04 defender Sead Kolasinac on a free transfer this summer transfer window, and have been linked with some other stars like Leicester City’s Riad Mahrez.
The Gunners finished fifth last season and will be playing in the UEFA Europa League next campaign.
