Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette has decided to join Manchester United despite keen interest from Arsenal, according to reports.
The 26-year-old has been linked with a move away from the French Ligue 1 due to his brilliant displays in recent seasons with Lyon that has drawn interest from a couple of clubs in Europe.
There were reports that Atletico Madrid are leading in the race to sign Lacazette as a replacement for Antoine Griezmann who was tipped to leave the Old Trafford but the Spanish club’s transfer ban might scupper Manchester United move for Griezmann.
Reports in L’Equipe claim that Manchester United have moved ahead of Arsenal in the pursuit of Lacazette who prefers to play for the Red Devils next season despite being a long-term target for the North London club.
The Gunners have been linked with the French striker for several seasons, with reports Arsene Wenger is a long-term admirer of the Lacazette’s abilities and will move for again this summer despite failing in his bid to sign the player in previous transfer windows.
Manchester United are buoyed in the potential move for Alex Lacazette due to the prospects of giving the player an opportunity to play in the Champions League next season while Arsenal will only play in the Europa League.
