Few years ago, Alex Teixeira confirmed talks with Chelsea, should the Blues be worried now

Three years ago, former Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder confirmed that he had talks with Chelsea FC.

Texiera said:

“I know there has been some interest from Chelsea lately, but at the moment nothing is concrete”.

The former Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder has scored 22 goals in that season which has attracted a lot of clubs because of his performance.

With the current Chelsea team, Texeira is more likely to replace Pedro than any other players in the squad.

Williams and Hazard play in the wild position, while Alex Teixeira can operate mostly in the central position.

The Brazilian would have been an excellent scorer that will add value to Chelsea’s failing attack, however, Chelsea never agreed a fee with his Ukrainian side and Chinese side Jiansu Suning tabled an incredible deal for Alex Teixeira,  The Guardian reported that it was worth around £38 million, smashing the Chinese transfer record.

Alex Teixeira’s completed his transfer same year and moved to China two years ago now, with Chelsea failing to score goals back to back, so has he shown Chelsea what they are missing now?

So far the attack-minded player has been a success in China, undoubtedly, but his form has certainly not left Chelsea fans wondering what it might have been to have a player that can assist Higuain.

He scored 13 goals for Shakhtar Donetsk in the 2016  and this season his side have been facing relegation. In all honesty, he has not been the massive success his stats at Shakhtar Donetsk projected he would be in China.

Alex Teixeira has failed to win any silverware with Jiansu in two years and there is no headway he will make the Brazil national squad soon. Fans must have believed that a move to Chelsea would have been a good step in the right direction for his career.

We could simply say he is operating at a lower league, due to the lower level of competition in the Chinese Super League – but we strongly doubt if Chelsea fans will be losing any sleep over this missed transfer from two years ago.
