Merseyside giants Liverpool have been boosted by the news that long-term injury absentee Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will return to action for the first time in almost a year.
Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has not played for the Reds since suffering a serious knee injury in the Reds’ Champions League clash with Italian Serie A giants AS Roma last season.
The ex-Arsenal and Southampton star suffered a cruciate ligament injury during the semifinal tie with AS Roma in April 2018.
England international Chamberlain is expected to feature for the Liverpool u23s in their league clash with the Derby u23s on Friday.
The serious knee injury forced Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to miss the 2018 FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia.
He missed out on an impressive outing from the Three Lions of England who finished fourth at the tournament to record their best World Cup outing since the 1990 edition in Italy.
Chamberlain has been missing for Liverpool this season in their quest to win the Premier League title.
They are one point behind defending champions and league leaders Manchester City in the race for the title.
Liverpool are also in the last 16 of this season’s Champions League with a second leg meeting with German champions Bayern Munich scheduled for next week in Germany.
Both sides played out a goalless draw in the first leg at Anfield.
