Monaco star player Tiemoue Bakayoko appears destined to play in the premier league next season after emerging as a target for Chelsea this summer and has been heavily linked with a move.
And in a new development, there are reports that the premier league champions have booked a fresh medical for him this week.
The 22-year-old was thought to be on the verge of a move to Stamford Bridge, but the days have dragged on without any confirmation from either him or any of the clubs.
And in the absence of a confirmation, there were speculations that Jose Mourinho’s Man United are trying to hijack the deal and snatch the midfielder from Chelsea’s grip.
And Sky Sports now revealed that the delay was caused by an injury scare which caused Chelsea to push back the medical.
It is understood that the France international underwent minor knee surgery with him suffering some mild pain towards the close of last campaign.
However, the Stamford Bridge club are said to remain confident the deal remains on track and the player will fly into London to have a medical this week.
It was added that the west London club are also hopeful the deal will be done in time for the Frenchman to fly out to China and Singapore next Monday.
Chelsea have signed Willy Caballero and Antonio Rudiger already, and will hope Bakayoko will be their third major signing this summer.
