Struggling Premier League side Southampton may be boosted by the return of one of their former skippers in their fight to survive relegation this season.
This is due to transfer reports linking Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana with a return back to boyhood club Southampton ahead of the upcoming transfer window scheduled to start as from the 1st of January.
Adam Lallana came through the Southampton ranks before making his debut for the Saints in 2006.
The 30-year-old went on to score 48 goals in 235 league appearances for Southampton.
The Englishman played a big role for Southampton in their ascent to the Premier League from League One.
He was part of the team that secured back-to-back promotion for the South Coast club.
Lallana was the skipper of the team before he left the South Coast for Liverpool in 2014.
The Reds signed Adam Lallana for around £25m and he later became a first team player for the Reds under Brendan Rodgers and then Jurgen Klopp.
Lallana has lost his Liverpool slot in the starting XI due to various injury problems in the last two years.
The England international player could revive his ailing career with a move to Southampton whose new manager Ralph Hasenhuttl is said to be interested in.
Hasenhuttl was appointed on Tuesday as a replacement for Mark Hughes who was sacked after an underwhelming start to the season.
