French International Alexandre Lacazette arrived Arsenal’s training ground this morning, Tuesday, to take his medical ahead of a transfer from Lyon.
Once the medical examination is complete, Lacazette is expected to sign a five-year contract at the club.
The Emirate club has reportedly agreed on a club-record transfer deal with French club Lyon which could increase.
The striker had verbally agreed on a transfer to Athletico Madrid this summer, but negotiation collapsed in June after Atletico’s transfer ban was upheld by the CAS Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Arsenal’s initial offer of £39m was rejected last month, but Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas had declared an agreement was likely to be reached after the sides agreed on a fee that would eclipse the £42.5m Arsenal paid for Germany international Mesut Ozil four years ago.
Lacazette had boasted he would only join a club that would guarantee him Champions League football, but it appears he’s stance on the issue has softened.
The striker’s record of 28 league goals last season was more than the combined tally of Arsenal forward’s Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott, Danny Welbeck and Lucas Perez.
