Former Liverpool defender and club legend Jamie Carragher has disclosed that he desperately wanted his boyhood club to sign Algerian and Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez during the transfer window in the summer.

Mahrez was influential for the Foxes as they won the English Premier League (EPL) title under the guidance of experienced Italian manager Claudio Ranieri as he weighed in with 17 goals and 10 assists.

Speaking about his love for Mahrez and his desire for him to play for the 18-time English champions via popular news outlet Daily Mail. In his words, Carragher, who is a Sky Sports pundit, said: ” “Mahrez angled for a move but no suitors were forthcoming.”
“I was desperate for Liverpool to sign Mahrez. I loved watching him last season, he used to get me out of my seat the way he would cut in from the right flank on to his left foot.
“I was shocked none of the giants made a bid for such a gifted wide man, who scored goals and created plenty of assists.” he concluded.

Mahrez and his Leicester City side have not been doing well in the league this season however despite their present travails in the league this season they have qualified for the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League (UCL).
