Top 5 Footballers Their Clubs Should Not Have Sold

Published

on

Football have turned to a sport for nomads, who move from one club to another. These clubs might even be city neighbours or in different continents. The major reasons for such movements is boiled down to money and dreams.

We will look at the top 5 players whose clubs should have retained.

5. Zlatan Ibrahimovic

The big Swede moved from Internazionale Milan to Barcelona, in a move which can be termed as logically insane. Yes, Internazionale got a huge cash plus an in-form Samuel Eto’o, but there was really no way Eto’o would last longer than Zlatan, who went ahead to star for Paris Saint Germain leading them to monopolizing the French Ligue 1  before joining Manchester United on a free transfer. A couple of years after Zlatan left, Inter Milan have found it difficult to challenge for anything as they have been on a downward spiral. How they wish Zlatan never left!

4.Cesc Fabregas

The Spaniard who arrived Arsenal as a youngster from Barcelona, went on to captain the London club and also become a fan’s favourite. He eventually returned to his boyhood club Barcelona, failed to tie down a starting role at the Catalan club, and joined Arsenal’s city rivals, Chelsea, where he has already won a League title but is being frozen out of the team by the new Chelsea boss, Antonio Conte. Francesc Fabregas grew at Arsenal to become a midfield maestro. He cut defences at will with his passes. His passes could do anything for Arsenal and since his departure, Arsenal have struggled to replace him properly. They have tried a handful of players but definitely may not have a Fabregas-esque midfielder in their ranks again.

3. Robert Lewandowski

The polish striker moved from Borrussia Dortmund to Bayern Munich in a shocking transfer. He went for free! Very Outrageous! He is known for banging in goals. He scores for fun. Dortmund may have a certain Pierre Emerick Aubameyang firing on all cylinders but definitely the big polish who once scored 4 goals in a single UEFA Champions League game against Real Madrid for Dortmund will be missed by arguably the 2nd biggest German club.

2. Cristiano Ronaldo

Definitely a big one! The ballon d’or winner will never be forgotten at the club in which he won his first ballon d’or title. Manchester United signed their man for £12 million from Sporting Lisbon, and sold him at a then world record fee of £80 million. The Portuguese have since justified every single pound spen on him but his departure from the English club have left Manchester United struggle to find a replacement for him. They’ve signd all kinds of people in that respect, even Bebé and Orbetan were once tagged “New Ronaldos”, but the club is finding out that there will not be a perfect replacement for Ronaldo, just as they haven’t found for Cantona and Keane. A few Manchester United fans still believe that Ronaldo will return to their club.

1. Luis Suarez

The Uruguayan goal poacher was signed form Ajax to Liverpool, little did Liverpudlians know that he will go ahead to engrave himself on their hearts. Suarez could score for Liverpool at any time or occasion. He literally carried the team on his shoulders, scoring goals that translate into the required points. He helped Liverpool to nearly break their club hoodoo and win the league title that has eluded them  in the Premier League era. He moved to Barcelona at the beginning of last season after getting himself banned from football for a few months for biting Italian defender, Chiellini, in a FIFA World Cup match. He has served his ban and is now an integral part of arguably the most potent front line of any football team, MSN (Messi, Suarez & Neymar).
