Chelsea wants to sign Middlesbrough star Adama Traore due to his blistering speed, according to reports.

Reliable reports have it that the Blues are closely monitoring the pacy winger and ready to move for him in the January transfer window.

The 20-year-old winger has been impressive for Boro this season and reports in Sky Sports claim that Chelsea are plotting a swoop for the ex-Barcelona man as Antonio Conte looks to bolster his attack.

Traore joined Boro from Aston Villa on deadline day last summer transfer window and  has made 14 appearances for Boro this season, particularly shining in the goalless draw at Arsenal and the narrow home defeat against Chelsea.

In recent interview with Mundo Deportivo, the winger said:  “(Karanka) has helped me tactically because I knew he came from another different style of football, and that has made be accustomed to be more careful to attack and (learn) how to defend.”

However, Traore has been left of the starting squad by Boro boss Aitor Karanka who admits he is making strides in his game and chelsea are preparing a swoop for the talented youngster.

Karanka told the Gazette: “Yes he is improving and learning.

“He has a lot of good things in front of him, he has a big future and he’s learning. Last season he didn’t play, this is the first season where he’s competing at this level, so it’s good for the team.

“The more he improves, the better it will be for the team.”
