Marco Asensio

Outgoing European champions Real Madrid rejected a big money transfer for forward Marco Asensio according to his agent Horacio Gagglio.

The player’s agent made this revelation in a chat with popular media channel ESPN while addressing transfer rumors over the future of the Spanish international at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

Marco Asensio has previously been linked with a move away from Real Madrid with several Premier League sides like Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool.

Horacio Gagglio told ESPN that Real Madrid turned down a €180m offer for his client and that the Los Merengues are not willing to sell him.

He also revealed that the player is happy at Real Madrid and won’t be seeking a move away when the transfer window reopens this summer.

Marco Asensio was expected to step up at Real Madrid this season in the advent of Ronaldo’s exit from the club but the Spanish forward has failed to fulfil that expectation.

Portuguese national team skipper Cristiano Ronaldo left Real Madrid at the start of this season after a nine-year spell that was hugely successful.

Ronaldo joined Juventus from Real Madrid in a club-record deal.

Marco Asensio has started just 20 from the 42 Real Madrid games played in both the Spanish La Liga and Champions League.
