Former Arsenal Man Makes Prediction About Chelsea This Season

Paul Merson is of the opinion that Chelsea could be on their way towards a domestic double this term.

The former Arsenal man thinks Chelsea new Italian boss could lead Chelsea towards an FA Cup and Premier League double this season.

The Stamford Bridge club have been in nice form this current campaign and have established themselves as the firm favourites to win the Premier League title in  Conte’s first season in charge at the club.

Chelsea are currently flying high at the top of the League table and have successfully built an eight-point lead over second-placed Manchester City.

Their remarkable upturn in form this campaign has been in stark contrast to their struggles last season when they ended up 10th and without a trophy too.

The Stamford Bridge club will look to continue their march towards a domestic double when they take on Wolves in the FA Cup fifth round on Saturday night.

And Merson believes Chelsea are on course to win an FA Cup and Premier League double this term.

Writing in his column for The Daily Star, he stressed that Chelsea could be on their way to a Premier League and FA Cup Double this current campaign.

“They are my tip to win the cup because they are in such a commanding position in the league and don’t have any other distractions.”

He believes if Conte men can get past Wolves today, then they will have a great chance because they have hardly lost a game all season – and they will definitely have Wembley in their sights.

“Not being in Europe has really helped them because they’re only really playing once a week and they haven’t had to change their team around.

“They haven’t had to rest any of their big players like Diego Costa, Eden Hazard or N’Golo Kante because they’ve not had Champions League football to worry about.

“It is all about the draw in the FA Cup, so they will need some luck, but who is going to challenge them?”
