Simon Kjaer

Fenerbahce has released an official statement, claiming Chelsea have not made an offer for Simon Kjaer.

The Blues have been linked with a move for Kjaer and there were reports that Antonio Conte is lining up a £16million bid for the towering defender as he continues to bring defensive reinforcements to the Bridge in January.

The 28-year-old has also been linked with a move to Manchester United, with reports that Jose Mourinho wants to sign a more trusted defender to his defence line.

However, Fenerbahce has come out to dismiss such reports with an official statement on their website, it read: ‘A number of recent reports have falsely claimed that Chelsea have made an offer for our Danish player Simon Kjaer,’

‘Fenerbahce have not received any offers whatsoever for Kjaer and any claims suggesting a transfer could take place are wrong.

‘Kjaer is a happy and successful member of our team.

‘We would like to ask our fans to disregard such lies and manipulative reports that aim to disrupt our team.’

Conte has remained keen to add defenders to his squad in the current transfer window but it appears the return of Nathan Ake has put an end to his search for reinforcements.
