Lyon president Jean-Michael Aulas likes the idea of appointing Jose Mourinho as the new manager at the French Ligue 1 club this summer but the club supremo is certain that the former Chelsea manager is above their pay grade.

Aulas revealed that Lyon can’t afford the financial demands of making Jose Mourinho their next manager.

He talked about Jose Mourinho in an interview with French news outlet L’Equipe.

Jean-Michael Aulas was reacting to the recent admission by Mourinho that he’ll like to work in the French league.

Since then, the former Real Madrid and Chelsea boss has been linked with the Lyon job as a replacement for current manager Bruno Genesio whose contract expires in the summer.

Genesio said that it would be an honour for Mourinho to succeed him as the Lyon manager.

Jose Mourinho admitted his interest in French football while he was on BeIN Sports and the Portuguese football manager has been linked with Lyon since then.

He talked about experiencing other football cultures apart from England, Portugal, Italy and Spain where he has managed and also won league titles.

Jose Mourinho is presently without a managerial job after his dismissal from Manchester United in December for the poor run of results experienced by the Red Devils during that period.
