Mourinho: I Have Doubts This Player Will Play Against Liverpool, He Doesn’t Look Ready

Marcos Rojo

Following Manchester United’s first leg 2-0 victory over Hull City in the League Cup, United boss Jose Mourinho has issued an injury update on powerhouse Marcos Rojo. The Portuguese coach expressed doubts that he would be available for Sunday’s clash with Liverpool.

The Argentine who formed a stronghold at the back of the defence with Phil Jones, limped off during  red devils 4-0 victory over Reading last weekend. The problem appears to be a muscular issue.

However, Duncan Castles reported that Rojo’s injury was not related to a muscular tear- as first feared. This means the 26-year old defender would be available for the remainder of his side’s January fixtures.

Nevertheless, when Mourinho was speaking after the win over Hull City, he refused confirming whether the defender would be fit in time for the clash with Liverpool.

“I don’t know [if Rojo will be fit],” Mourinho said.

“Marcos has a muscular problem, not big. I’m not saying he’s not ready to play, I’m saying that I have my doubts.”

Obviously, many Manchester United fans will love seeing both Rojo and Jones do their thing at the back of the defence and feature from the start against Liverpool. The duo continue contributing to United’s recent impressive performances, playing fundamental aspects in the squad’s nine-game winning run. Surely, Manchester United fans want that to continue.
