After released by Manchester City, Willy Caballero has emerged as a target for Chelsea this summer.

And in a new development, according to reports, the Argentine goalkeeper has passed a medical with Chelsea and the club are now expected to confirm his free transfer in coming days.

Many are still surprised as to why Guardiola is not interested in keeping the 35-year-old at the Etihad Stadium, considering his impressive performances as an effective backup.

However, the goalkeeper appears to be ready to fulfil a similar role at Chelsea as the Premier League champions look to bring him in as a replacement for Asmir Begovic who departed to Bournemouth a few weeks ago.

Obviously, Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois remains the number one in Antonio Conte’s squad. However, Willy could prove a decent backup after showing his quality when called upon to Manchester City following the injury of first-choice Bravo.

Daily Mail revealed that even though Caballero also had offers from both Newcastle and Brighton, he is getting closer to completing his move to Stamford Bridge after passing a medical.

Unlike Man United and Man City, Chelsea are yet to make a major signing this summer, but they could change the status quo any moment from now.
