Mauro Icardi set to force Stamford Bridge transfer

Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi is hoping to move to Stamford Bridge this month after putting up another uninspiring display against Sassuolo on Saturday.

The Argentine was heavily linked with a move to the London club during the summer window but former manager Antonio Conte couldn’t complete his desire to lure him to Stamford Bridge.

Though there haven’t been many rumours linking the 25-year-old to Chelsea this month, it is believed Icardi has failed to extend his contract with the Serie A giants and a switch to Stamford Bridge is looking more likely to happen.

His display against the mid-table team on Saturday was another prove that he is ready to quit the San Siro outfits before the end of the season.

Icardi, who has been a standout player for the Luciano Spaletti’s side so far this term, had just 16 touches on the ball. He neither create any goalscoring chance nor score a goal of his own.

His performance during the game came as a surprise to Spaletti who revealed the player “could have done much better if given much space by the opponents”

Meanwhile, Chelsea are on the verge of completing a move for Icardi’s compatriot Gonzalo Higuain, that’s according to Sky Sports.

It was revealed yesterday that the Blues are ready to award him £270,000-a-week contract so as to prise him out of AC Milan as soon as possible.

The Argentine underwent his medicals on Friday and a deal for his signature could be sealed before the end of today (Monday).
